About TireDotCode & Our Editorial Policy
Dedicated to automotive safety, precise tire telemetry, and transparent algorithmic calculations.
Our Mission
Founded by a collective of automotive enthusiasts and data engineers, TireDotCode USA was built to demystify the complex world of tire safety. Every day, millions of drivers operate vehicles on compromised, aged, or improperly sized tires. Our mission is to provide free, instantaneous, and mathematically precise tools to decode DOT serial numbers, calculate optimal cold inflation pressures, and verify aftermarket tire size fitment safely.
The Editorial Team
The content on TireDotCode is authored and maintained by the TireDotCode Editorial Team. We do not use fictitious personas or fake authoritative badges. Our team relies strictly on documented physics, chemistry, and established industry standards.
When writing our guides on vulcanization aging or silica degradation, we synthesize publicly available data from organizations such as the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and ETRTO (European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation), alongside published academic materials on polymer science.
Our Methodology & Data Sources
- Tire Age & DOT Decoding: Our algorithms cross-reference the final 4 digits of the US DOT tire identification number against the Gregorian calendar to extract the precise manufacturing week and year. We cap maximum safe tire lifespan at 6-10 years based on manufacturer consensus.
- Pressure Calculations: The Tire Pressure Calculator operates on Ideal Gas Law principles for thermal adjustments and standard load capacity curves established by TRA (Tire and Rim Association) and ETRTO.
- Size Fitment (The 3% Rule): Our sizing calculator enforces the strict industry-standard ±3% overall diameter variance rule to prevent severe speedometer inaccuracies and ABS/ESC malfunction.
Editorial Independence & Affiliations
TireDotCode USA is a completely independent utility. We are not owned by, affiliated with, or funded by any tire manufacturer (e.g., Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli) or automotive corporation.
In the future, we may utilize affiliate links (such as directing users to online tire retailers). However, these partnerships will never influence the output of our calculators or the objectivity of our safety warnings. If a tire is dangerously old, our algorithms will flag it, regardless of commercial interests.
